People say:
Uninvited follows along the same computer-inspired lines as Shadowgate, with plenty of first-person representations of the surroundings you encounter. The RPG theme is buried under moving cursors which manage to slow things down, but those who want quests won't mind -I did.
Like Shadowgate, Kemco has directly translated a popular computer quest. All of the challenge you'd expect in an adventure RPG is here, but the graphics are definitely restrained by the limitations of the Nintendo. Good for puzzle-solving RPG lovers though!
Uninvited is another one of those RPGs that tries to simulate real life with graphics instead of text or putting the characters in action-oriented game play. The problem is that, while the quest is O.K., the graphics and interaction just don't cut it. Too complex for its own good.
Although Kemco looks like they put a lot of effort into this game, I still didn't like it as much as I could have. The graphics were static and the sound wasn't anything to jump off a building for. The puzzles were too obvious in some places and totally off the wall in others. Let's see some new ideas.

Description of Uninvited
This is a little better than Shadowgate but not by much-- you still die a lot, and most puzzles are illogical. It is essentially Shadowgate with a new setting and better plot: after regaining consciousness from a car crash, you must enter the haunted house to find your missing sister. As in other ICOM games, useless items abound (although there is a place to stash them), so be prepared for extensive item management.
What made this slightly-above-average game a lot worse is a big maze which is extremely confusing and just might make you realize that finishing the game may not be worth it.

Hands-down the 'scariest' CGA game (if you could say there is such a thing). Possibly the oldest game that can suspend an immersive horror atmosphere. Good art and pacing spreads out tension between well-timed (and not overused) jumpscares, which remain potent with help of sparse but effective sound effects.
I do recommend a walkthrough, or at least a list of useful items - most of the difficulty of this game comes from the added confusion of figuring out how to use items when most of the items in the game are unused junk. It can impact the flow of the game and overshadow the good, real puzzles in the game.
Laugh all you want at the idea of a CGA horror game, but in the age when your movies were mostly cheap VHS tapes copied off TV and played on a tiny CRT, and when most CGA DOS games didn't feature real samples instead of beep/adlib, this product was considered quite scary in its day. And if you're acclimated enough to old adventure games of this era, you might find yourself looking over your shoulder or turning on a lamp in the room.

Way back in the late 80s I first played this game on my Atari ST and it was a lot of fun despite many of the puzzles not making much sense.
Also, I don't recall a large maze so maybe it was taken out of the conversion?

I love the part where the ghost ejaculates on you if you try to comb his ratty hair.

I LOVED this game, and managed to beat it, back in the day, on a very early Mac. I lived near ICOM in Illinois, and it broke my heart when they left town, whatever made them leave/disband. The Cubs t-shirt on the little bro brought a big smile.
